May 4, 2018: It's the first Friday of the month on so that means Music on Main at Lakewood Ranch from 6 - 9 p.m! Beer, wine and food available. Bring your chairs, but leave coolers at home. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a short leash. Overflow parking is available at the Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. Lakewood Ranch is off University Parkway east of I-75. 

May 5, 2018: Here's your chance to be one of the first to check out a brand new festival. It's the inaugural Sarasota Veg Fest! The new event will feature environmentally friendly vendors and exhibitors, vegan food, food demos, yoga classes, live music, a scavenger hunt, animal rescue groups and more. May 5, 2018: Bring your pail, shovel, sunglasses and creativity to Siesta Key Public Beach on for the Annual Siesta Key Sand Sculpture Contest. The contest, traditionally held the first Saturday of May, is held near the Pavilion on the beautiful white sandy Siesta Public Beach. Free and open to all ages of participation, the Siesta Sand Sculpture Contest also awards five cash prizes and is one of our very popular happenings for both locals and visitors on our Escape to Sarasota Calendar of Events. 

May 5, 2018: It's the 21st year for Corvettes on the Circle taking place on St. Armand’s Circle. Running from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. this show will feature present day models back to the classics of 1953. Over 200 pristine & original Class Corvettes will be on display in the Circle Park. Trophies will be awarded to the top three Corvettes in each generational class as well as Best in Show. Awards ceremony at 3 p.m. It's free.

May 5 - 6, 2018: It's the inaugural Venice Seafood & Music Festival taking place in Centennial Park featuring seafood, meat and vegetarian delights prepared fresh on site by local Sarasota restaurants along with drinks. Enjoy your foodie experience while jamming to live musical performances on stage by some of Florida’s and the region’s top musical talents. Music will be from such genres and R&B, jazz, rock, reggae and Caribbean sounds. This year’s performers are, on Saturday: 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. RJ Howson, 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. Kettle of Fish, 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. the Sarasota Steel Pan Band and 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Twinkle & Rock Soul Radio. On Sunday, performers are: 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Act 3, 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’Blues, 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. Ari & the Alibis and 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Reverend Barry & the Funk.
